Drinks that stain your smile badly

Hellos guys, welcome to our awesome blog for dental.  There some drinks that are really bad for your smile, you should know them. Today we are going to make a list of the worst one for your teeth. I want to share some dental hygiene tips to avoid stained tips along with recommendations. That way you can enjoy all those yummy drinks without worrying too much about it.

By the way, if you want to read more articles like this, we have tons written in our blog. Remember to write us a comment about dental tips we missed. If you want to read about a specific topic we have not touched before, let us know too! We love interacting with you guys and help you improve your dental hygiene.

Worst drinks for your smile, they leave a stain

Any soft drink is bad for your teeth. They usually contain lots of colorant and sugar. Sodas especially are not good at all for your dental hygiene. Energy drinks are other soft drinks that can leave stain in your teeth. These can be really hard to stop drinking, but I am not asking to stop it completely.

You can substitute them with natural juices to nurture your teeth. Fruits are really good for your teeth and do not give you a bad breath difficult to manage. The key here is moderation so be careful if you find yourself addicted to these drinks. Another drink that is deceptive is artificial savored water, they are really tasty but again, bad for your teeth.

Now, there are also natural drinks that can ruin your teeth. Coffee, for example can stain your teeth really easy. It is a shame because most of us use coffee like our gasoline. It is really difficult to start the day without a cup of coffee. In reality, this drink can stain your teeth worse than some soft drinks. If you drink it with milk or cream, the problem gets worse. The same goes with milkshakes and smoothies.

The thing is that everything with sugar, milk and cream can stain your teeth. But only in large quantities, so to be safe try to not abuse them too often. Alcohol on the other hand is also bad for your teeth. Wine especially can stain your teeth if drank too much. Again, I do not want you to quit drinking any of these drinks, just be mindful and moderate yourself.

Avoid stain in your teeth

The first rule to avoid stains in your teeth is a good dental hygiene. Brushing your teeth at least twice a day is important to clean them from stains. Using dental floss and mouthwash also improve your dental hygiene. Food debris stuck in your teeth can stain them and create dental caries. So to have a white smile you need to clean your teeth after every meal to mitigate the effect of all you the beverage you drink in a day.

Another good ally is drinking lots of water. Staying hydrated is good for your teeth. I will explain. Saliva is made from water in our body and is our natural protection against bacteria and germs. More water means more saliva. More saliva means healthier teeth, as simple as that. Overall, if you maintain a good dental hygiene you will not suffer from stains.

One personal trick I can share with you to produce more saliva is to chew gum. But not any chewing gum, sugarless chewing gum. This helps to produce more saliva and will not ruin your teeth because of the chewing gum.  If you use candy gum you will do more harm than good because of the artificial colorant and the sugar, two things we are trying to avoid.

Many of you may be thinking about using home remedies for whitening. I suggest avoiding using any of them because they can are not safe at all. Use dental products with the ADA seal of approval and always consult with your dentist before using them. I have met many patients that come to our clinic with a mess in their teeth because watched too much Youtube videos.

That is why I always recommend visiting your dentist every 6 months for cleaning and checkup. Getting whitening a year also helps to maintain your smile aesthetically pleasing. Below you will see how to save money getting dental treatment with us.
